Overview
Kalimpong is a scintillating city and municipality of West Bengal. Kalimpong is located at an altitude of 1250 metres above sea level. During the time of mid 19th century, Kalimpong was ruled by the kingdoms of Sikkim and Bhutan. When Kalimpong was ruled by Sikkim it was known as Dalingkot. It is one of the most beautiful regions in West Bengal which has some dazzling natural features. This magnificent hill station is located on the foothills of Shivalik ranges. Culture of Kalimpong
The people of Kalimpong mostly follow the Nepali culture and tradition. Dashain and Tihar are two main festivals of Kalimpong. The main language spoken by the people residing at Kalimpong is Nepali. Hinduism is the most dominant religion however, some people also follow Buddhism and Christianity. It is believed that the main tribes of Kalimpong were Lepchas but now lots of Nepali can be seen.

Durpin Dara Hill
Durpin Dara Hill is located at 1372 metres above sea level at the south-west of the Kalimpong town. This famous hill gives a brilliant view of Kalimpong, snow-capped peaks and Teesta River.
Morgan House
Morgan house is the famous mansion built by an English jute baron Mr. George Morgan in the 1930s. It lies at a distance of 3 km from the Kalimpong town. This destination gives a clear view of the Kanchenjunga range.
Deolo Hill
Deola Hill is located at an elevation of around 2000 m above sea level. The best view of sunset and sunrise is the main reason behind the popularity of Deola Hill among the visitors at Kalimpong.
Jang Dong Palriffo Brang Gompa
It is the famous monastery of Kalimpong which was consecrated by Dalai Lama in 1976. Jang Dong Palriffo Brang Gompa is also known as Durpin Monastery. The beautiful paintings on the wall and the sacred Kunguyar are the main features of this monastery.
How To Reach Kalimpong
The best way to reach Kalimpong is by travelling via vehicle. Many vehicles are available at Siliguri which will take the visitors to Kalimpong. For this, they need to first arrive at either Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station.
